Understanding Immigration

While both a very complex matter and serious political issue, immigration law covers the policies of the government in regard to controlling the legal status of foreign citizens.

Matters such as Citizenship & Naturalization, Deportation Proceedings, Employment Authorization, Employer Law, Illegal Immigration, Permanent Residency, and the many different types of Visas that allow foreign nationals to reside in the United States for a period of time, all fall under the jurisdiction of national immigration law. You can find out more about the different areas of immigration law at the US Citizenship and Immigration Services website.

In recent years the processing of Naturalization applications, along with other immigration applications, has become subject to delays due to security concerns and a backlog of applications. Such delays can end up causing legal problems for individuals with immigration issues. However, preventative measures can be taken where the risk of denials are reduced, and problems that have already occurred can be solved in a great number of immigration cases.
