Understanding Employment Law
With the exception of the negotiation process covered by Labor Law and collective bargaining, employment law spans all areas of the relationship between employers and employees.
Many of the enacted employment laws exist as protective labor legislation, a good example of which is minimum wage regulations. Unemployment compensation is another example of employment law, but this falls under the category of public insurance.
Some of the areas covered by employment law include discrimination in the workplace, employee pensions (including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act), safety in the workplace, unemployment compensation, and worker's compensation. |
