Understanding Business Law

Commercial and business law refers to the areas of law that cover business and commercial transactions. Since business law can deal with issues of private and public law, it is considered to be a branch of civil law in some cases.

There are many different areas that fall into the category of business law. Though this list is not exhaustive, some of the areas include: contracts between both individuals and businesses, the law governing Corporations, Limited Liability Companies and other organizations conducting business, Intellectual Property such as Patents and Trademarks, Benefits, Pensions, Income Tax, Trusts and Estates.

Like many other areas of the law, business law sometimes spans over other areas including Bankruptcy, Employment, Immigration and Labor.
